MIT CIO Innovation Awards

At the first annual MIT Sloan CIO Symposium Innovation awards, first place went to Joe McCartin, CIO of National City Corp. in Cleveland, Ohio. In a prgram called "Core Renewal," McCartin overhauled the bank's legacy processing systems in support of a new customer-oriented strategy. Ken Theis, CIO, State of Michigan, was MIT's fourth runner up, and he talks about his Portfolio Assessment Framework, which allowed the state to optimize its IT assets and eliminate 24% of its IT spend.
