Mapping App Wins Best Mashup

Cartosfot won the best mashup award at Mashup Camp with an application that uses Google Maps to allow users to get information from multiple Internet sources about particular locations. Click on a location and you can access Flickr photos taken at that location, Wikipedia information about that location, Eventful events being held there, and Weatherbug for weather information. You can also see most popular locations, and put the application on autopilot to seen a new random location every five minutes. Creator Andres Ferrate, head honcho of Cartosoft, said he got the idea from his wife, a schoolteacher, who described how students use the Internet for research.
