Startup, Ocarina Networks: Online Storage Optimization

InformationWeek's John Foley speaks with Carter George, the Vice President of Products for Ocarina Networks. Unlike many storage optimization solutions, Ocarina Networks offers storage optimization that is focused on online storage, and the company claims to be able to reduce file and data store size by a factor of 10. The company initially focused on the media and image industry, where its product claims to reduce file sizes by a factor of three. George says that the company is now focusing on various vertical industries including oil and gas (mostly seismic research), genetics and engineering.
