Download Metadata Management is a critical but often ignored component in a successful data warehouse implementation. It is a path to establishing common understanding between the business and IT, but not often well understood by either side of the organization. Costs attributable to poor metadata management are often hidden in project development inefficiencies, mistakes made from incorrect assumptions about data, and analysis hours spent doing redundant research. The following illustrative study illustrates how recognizing metadata management issues and implementing a strategy can dramatically improve the chances for project success, reduce costs, and create a common language between the business and IT.
