Overview: ASP.NET AJAX functionality has been available to the public since October 2005 as a series of Community Technology Previews (CTPs), demonstrating everything from rich client behavior and asynchronous Web page postbacks to invoking and consuming Web services through JavaScript proxies. This paper describes the major differences between the final CTP release (made publicly available in July 2006) and the upcoming Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX v1.0 release (called the RTM release). It also discusses a ""Futures"" preview version (the Futures release) that adds functionality to the RTM release.
