Using Single-Purpose SAS Macros to Format EXCEL Spreadsheets With DDE

Date: January 2008
Type: White Paper
Rating: (0)

Overview: In this paper author describes the single-purpose macros that enables the SAS user to accurately format spreadsheets with ease. More specifically, positional parameters in X4ML (EXCEL version 4 Macro Language) are replaced with keyword parameters in the SAS macro language. X4ML, a predecessor to VBA, (Visual Basic for Applications) supports DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange), a legacy communications protocol accessible in BASE SAS. The main objective of this paper is to enable SAS users to develop customized macro libraries for SAS-to-EXCEL communications that meet specific business needs.
