A LCD Control Panel for Your Linux Server

Date: January 2008
Type: White Paper
Rating: (1)

Overview: In this paper the company designs a LCD control panel based on a Hitachi HD44780 LCD display and the AT90S4433 AVR 8?Bit RISC Microcontroller from Atmel. The new design goes much further than that. It adds buttons for user interaction and includes a hardware watchdog to supervise the server. In addition to that the hardware provides for one analog input line. The author doesn’t use it here but one could connect a temperature sensor to it, for example. To design this one needs some electronic hobby skills. The idea behind this panel is that it should allows to control a server without monitor or keyboard.
