Delivering Quality of Storage Service

Source: Symantec
Date: January 2008
Type: White Paper
Rating: (0)

Overview: This paper discusses the concept of differential Quality of Storage Service (QoSS), the ability to automatically match the performance, availability and cost properties of virtual storage devices with the business value of files in a file system, and to transparently relocate files to the most appropriate storage devices as their business value changes over time. The Veritas File System’s support for multi-volume file systems along with mechanisms for allocating user data and metadata on specific volumes makes it possible for an administrator to provide differential QoSS for newly created files by defining policies.
