Overview: This paper from Intel explains the price/performance of Intel NetStructure HMP Release 1.1 for Windows and Release 1.2 for Linux. It provides data on performance tests and also compares the software model and cost advantages of Intel NetStructure HMP with media processing solutions implemented in conventional board-based systems. The computing platforms chosen for benchmarking purposes were off-the-shelf PCs and standard telecom computing platforms and resulted in projected savings of 72% for ""Mid-density"" enterprise systems and 64% for high-density service provider systems.
