Overview: Owensboro is the 4th largest city in Kentucky with over 50,000 residents. Owensboro Public Schools deliver programs to meet the diverse needs of over 4,000 students across nine schools. Owensboro Public Schools wanted to integrate streaming media into the learning experience. Equipping all teachers and administrators with email and internet access was also a key part of the school district’s plan. The school district deployed Nortel Ethernet Routing Switches 8600 to deliver 10 gigabits of bandwidth in the core of their network and Ethernet Routing Switches 5000 series to deliver one gigabit of bandwidth to the desktop.
