Overview: Launched in 2001, Attica Telecom provides leased line services to service providers and enterprises in the Athens metropolitan region. They wanted to launch the first Metro Ethernet service in Greece. Nortel provided Attica Telecom with a suite of products that enabled it to offer the most secure, up-to-date and cost-effective services in the Athens region. With a combination of Provider Backbone Bridging (currently being defined as IEEE 802.1ah) and resilient switching techniques, Attica Telecom has been able to launch a service that has allowed it to expand its customer base and achieve international recognition for network innovation.
