ZXTM Supports GreatSchools by helping with the ABCs: Application Acceleration, Bandwidth Savings and Content Compression

Date: August 2008
Type: Case Study
Rating: (0)

Overview: Based in San Francisco, GreatSchools is an independent nonprofit organization committed to helping parents in the U.S. choose schools, support children’s education and improve schools in their communities.

Rising bandwidth costs and the growing number of visitors to the GreatSchools website had them looking for better ways to manage their bandwidth usage. Previously, they had a reverse-caching proxy server running on an open source proxy server, but this lacked the crucial ability to compress content if the client’s browser supported compressed content. The proxy service also had no reporting or cache management tools and as the popularity of GreatSchools increased, the administrators needed to find a better solution. GreatSchools utilized ZXTM from Zeus Technology to address these problems and manage bandwidth usage.
