Overview: SEPA requires European banks to adopt uniform payment schemes to automate processing of mass payment transactions in euros. DB2 9 offers new pureXML technology that enables firms to persist XML messages in their native hierarchical formats. This approach allows the data exchange format to become the storage format, which is simplified both database design and application development in certain situations. This white paper explores select IBM software technology that helps banks transition payments processing to support SEPA and complementary IBM offerings including message transformation and validation services as well as the IBM SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) Financial Services Payments Framework.
