Overview: This paper looks at integrating application error logging and instant messenger technology. Apache log4j is a widely used logging API and will extend log4j to stream the company’s logging events via Yahoo Messenger. The end result will be receiving a Yahoo Instant Message (IM) whenever an error occurs in an application that one has deployed. This paper assumes familiarity with the Apache log4j API.
