Overview: VXML is a markup language for programming Web-based applications, like HTML (Hyper-Text Markup Language) and XML (eXtensible Markup Language). But where HTML delivers visual applications in the form of Web pages, VXML delivers audio applications - over the telephone. Nortel Networks self-service solutions use VXML to evolve IVR and advanced speech applications into a logical browser, which can access millions of pages of information on the Internet. The Nortel Networks VoiceXML R2.0 client runs on the Nortel Networks Media Processing Server (MPS) self-service telephony platforms (MPS 1000 and MPS 500).
