Overview: Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is becoming the IT architecture of the future. While not groundbreaking technology, SOA fundamentally shifts how businesses and IT organizations attack business problems and the technology architecture that is constructed to solve these problems. SOA can be thought of as a collection of applications, or services, that are connected via a communications network that can be either inter- or intra-company. This paper provides a detailed discussion on Web services and the components that make up Web services.
