Overview: Since many years, in most of all industries, traceability is essential, and very often is mandated by the State. Besides, since Sarbanes&Oxley act, traceability is mandatory for the information systems bound to financial transactions of a company quoted on stock market. In most of our systems, traceability is done with logs which provide the history of all transactions. But for networking, it seems that traceability is unknown. Firstly, what is traceability for networks? Do we suffer from its absence? What are its benefits? This article highlights all traceability benefits and most of all how it is an essential control in order to lower network cost.
