Download As the need for a more mobile workforce increases in todays incredibly competitive market, so does the complexity of the challenge facing the IT organizations asked to make mobility possible. According to Raffi Tchakmakjian, the first big challenge is the fact that the three major requirements of mobility in the enterprise - flexibility, security, and cost-effectiveness are often mutually contradictory. This is further complicated by the fact that there are numerous, frequently changing parts, networks beyond the control of the IT group, various service providers, as well as a variety of users and work styles. Trellias Tchakmakjian suggests that unified network management is the ideal solution. He says it allows IT to set policies and rules centrally to help maintain control, while still retaining enough flexibility to allow users to still be productive.
