(1)Overview: Mobile operating systems give users primary control over the device, making it fairly easy for them to circumvent enterprise security controls. So, with a growing number of mobile devices and non-traditional workstations available to the enterprise user and the ?bring your own device? concept being embraced by IT managers, the need for a comprehensive security solution is necessary to verify the posture of a device prior to allowing it access to the internal network. IBM Research has developed an innovative security architecture that leverages several Tivoli products including Tivoli Endpoint Manager, Tivoli Identity Manager, Tivoli Directory Server and Tivoli Directory Integrator to provide the validation of a device, device posture and a user?s identity prior to authentication to the network. This solution will be the basis for a 2012 IBM CIO internal offering for managing remote access of Android and iOS devices. This will provide the first ITCS300 compliant access for mobile devices.
