A Structural and Stochastic Modelling Philosophy for Systems Integrity

Date: January 2008
Type: White Paper
Rating: (0)

Overview: This paper published by HP presents an essentially philosophical account of a mathematical approach to systems and services modeling for the purpose for understanding the functionality, performance, reliability, and security - in short, the integrity - of ICT systems. The paper describes the economic background to the need for effective modeling technologies, and explains the principal strengths of a key existing technology, the experience of which it build upon. Building squarely on this industrially validated practical experience, the paper then describes a rather general but directly applicable mathematical framework, and discusses how to model central issues in access control.
