Overview: DoubleClick applauds the efforts of DCITA around stimulating the necessary debate on the issue of Spyware and the exploration of potential solutions to the problems it raises. The misuse of consumer information, particularly personal information causes the most concern. Confusion around how and where Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is used by bad actors is harmful to the legitimate and consent based use of PII or technologies which could be potentially be seen as utilizing PII, even when that use is truly beneficial and agreed to by the consumer.
