Overview: Today's application delivery model must support today's complex IT reality. Developers have access to a wide array of languages, components, and frameworks. And IT operations staff can deploy applications into a variety of execution environments—including traditional, virtual, and cloud-based target environments—internally and externally, distributed around the world. Faced with such complexity, traditional application delivery breaks down. IT operations personnel are forced to manually configure and align each of the layers in a general-purpose stack to make an application run. This is a time-consuming and frustrating undertaking for IT, particularly when applications are complex. This challenge is only magnified by the constant state of change in deployment environments, which creates a never-ending cycle of conflict that causes applications to break and overhead costs to spiral.
