Overview: OPC tunneling software allows the secure transfer of process data, even across multiple firewalls, Network Address Translators (NAT) and WAN networks. By not securely transmitting process data, companies expose process control networks to potential cyber attacks which can disrupt production, compromise safety, and cause significant financial losses for companies. This paper addresses the issues and challenges of using DCOM when deploying OPC technology and presents an alternative solution that addresses the industrial end-user requirements.
