Overview: Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) is typically deployed as an on-premises, licensed software solution leveraging local disk and/or tape storage. As disk-based backup dominates and cloud storage models emerge, new deployment methods become more attractive, especially for maintaining off-site copies of data for disaster recovery.

Through a partnership with Iron Mountain, Microsoft DPM users have the ability to take advantage of a new method—electronic vaulting of local backup data to Iron Mountain’s CloudRecovery digital repository—for secure off-site, long-term storage.
