Overview: Faced with exponential storage growth, increasing operational costs, data-center power and cooling limitations, and the need to provision and bring new applications online more rapidly to support critical business needs, many customers look to virtualization strategies to ease the management burden. As IT organizations look to different server architectures, customers will typically implement Linux in a ""farm"" model and bring specific storage devices online. This paper describes the various security processes and procedures used to address potential data security vulnerabilities related to the shared extranet connection between Sun and its customer used in the Sun Managed Storage Service.
