Overview: Oracle Recovery MANager (RMAN) is a tool integrated into the Oracle Database that satisfies the above demands. RMAN is designed to work intimately with the server, providing block-level corruption detection during backup and restore. In addition, RMAN out-of-the-box is integrated with leading tape media management products via the supplied Media Management Library (MML) API, so that Oracle database backups can be made directly to disk or tape. This paper from Oracle presents the new Oracle Database 10g features that simplify the implementation and on-going maintenance of the Oracle data protection strategy.
