Overview: In this white paper the authors present their way of coming out of a situation where SCSI/SATA RAID controller stops functioning and the only replacement was to have a different make or model. They run into this on a rather critical system since it is a Microsoft Windows 2003 Server running Microsoft Exchange 2003 and hosting a web site through IIS. The controller is the root of the problem while putting a new one into the system and attached the hot-plug drive cage to it. A boot process is identified by the drives and creates a logical disk.
