Overview: The SMB market now has choices of functionality that have only been previously available to customers that implement Fibre Channel technologies, development of recent storage over TCP/IP technologies. This paper outlines two of these new technologies, NAS and iSCSI, applied to Microsoft Exchange 2003 operations. Testing of a sample Microsoft Exchange environment was performed with varying user loads and disk configurations to enable a performance comparison, and allow for a discussion of management tasks associated with each storage platform.
