Overview: Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) is a sustainable storage strategy that balances the cost of storing and managing information with its business value. ILM provides a practical methodology for aligning storage costs with business priorities. This paper is the result of a benchmark study assessing the maturity of over 900 IT organizations in North America and Western Europe. The paper describes the results of the benchmark study; it is aimed at understanding the progression of activities that organizations undertake as they become more mature.
