Overview: Thin provisioning presents more storage space to the hosts or servers that are connected to the storage system than is actually available on the storage system. The paper describes how to provision storage efficiently with IBM System Storage N series in a Fibre Channel or iSCSI deployment. When using System Storage N series with FlexVol technology, it is possible to thin provision both LUN and Snapshot space to allow greater efficiency and lower cost.
