Overview: External hard drives are an easy way to add digital storage to a variety of electronic devices. Automatic drive locking on a storage processor uses an access-control approach to provide content security for hard drive based storage. It uses a unique, well hidden password burned into the storage processor to lock the drive to the storage processor, rendering the drive inoperable if not attached to its specific host. A major advantage of enabling this feature on a storage processor is that it requires no user intervention.
