Overview: The IT team at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum needed to provide delegates with both operating system and business productivity software that would be familiar and easy to use. However, ease of use was not the only concern. Highly sensitive economic data would be stored on servers and constantly moved through the network. They needed to ensure that all of its systems were safe from software viruses and other threats. When the time came to select software for APEC Australia 2007, Microsoft products were the natural choice. They took advantage of Windows Vista and the 2007 Microsoft Office system.
