Overview: Internet Explorer 7 Protected Mode is one of several new features available in Windows Vista to help keep users safe. This Microsoft white paper introduces Internet Explorer 7 Protected Mode, a browser security feature available only with Internet Explorer 7 running on Windows Vista Enterprise. Protected Mode provides new levels of security that prevent the silent installation of malicious software and elevation-of-privilege attacks. Protected Mode provides enough rights for users to browse the Web and help keep their computers safe from Web-based attacks.
