Overview: This white paper explains how to control access to devices via group policy in Longhorn Server. The author explains that users installing unauthorized devices are a huge problem for a corporation. Even if the company’s data is not sensitive, allowing users to install their own hardware can raise support cost and makes it difficult to sustain an accurate hardware inventory. Windows Longhorn Server allows a person to control who does and does not have the skill to install hardware via group policy settings.
