RFID Basics for Retailers

Date: January 2008
Type: White Paper
Rating: (0)

Overview: Despite the promise that the technology holds, limitations with the initial RFID implementations have made the experiences to-date mixed. The recently ratified EPCglobal UHF Generation 2 standard and the RFID standards work being done by ISO are key to improving this experience and progressing RFID into the mainstream. This white paper will help one better understand RFID, since it provides an overview of RFID, the current status of relevant RFID standards initiatives, providing guidance for selecting and planning RFID pilots and implementations and illustrating how RFID can be integrated to enhance existing wireless LAN, bar code and mobile computing systems4.
