Design of a Multi-Band Antenna Array Using CTS and Photonic Band Gap Technologies

Date: January 2008
Type: White Paper
Rating: (0)

Overview: This paper, describes a new two-band coaxial CTS antenna array design for wireless communication services in both the C-and K-bands. In a specific design suitable for military application, it is shown that reflection coefficients of less than - 20dB and radiation efficiency of about 98% at both 4.2, and 18.9 GHz can be achieved using a six elements (three for each band) antenna array. Multigrid FDTD code was used in the simulation, and the optimization of the antenna array design. To extend the application of coaxial CTS to some special geometries and application involving mounting on flat surfaces, conformal design is needed.
