Adaptive Multirate CDMA for Uplink Throughput Maximization

Date: January 2008
Type: White Paper
Rating: (0)

Overview: Multirate direct-sequence Code-Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) and adaptive modulation form the foundations for future wireless communication systems, and there is much previous work in this area. For point to point, single user narrowband wireless communications, adapting the transmit rate and power to the channel fade variations is a well-known strategy to enhance the average throughput. Multirate DS-CDMA schemes offer a simple way to provide different data rates to different users in a system. However, adaptive CDMA remains a relatively unexplored area of research. ""Adaptation"" in the context of CDMA systems has been mostly synonymous with power control.
