Science of Continuous Media Application Design in Wireless Networks of Mobile Devices

Date: January 2008
Type: White Paper
Rating: (0)

Overview: Continuous media, audio and video clips, are essential to numerous applications such as distance education, collaborative scientific environments, homeland security, and entertainment. Display of continuous media using self-organizing ad hoc networks of wireless communication systems will potentially be used in variety of applications. Example deployments might include disaster relief missions, and university campuses etc. Challenges of these environments include their mobility, and unpredictable network bandwidth and loss characteristics. This University of Southern California paper explores three step science of design for applications that manipulate continuous media. This science strives to satisfy requirements of an application.
