Dynamic Fragmentation Scheme for Rate-Adaptive Wireless LANs

Date: January 2008
Type: White Paper
Rating: (0)

Overview: This paper proposes a new rate-adaptive MAC protocol with dynamic fragmentation. The major innovation is the use of multiple fragmentation thresholds for different rates to generate a new fragment from the MSDU only after the rate for-the next transmission is selected. With this scheme, the node with good channel quality is allowed to transmit more data than the one with bad channel quality over the same amount of channel access time.
