Seamless MPEG-4 Video Streaming Over Mobile IP-Enabled Wireless LAN

Date: January 2008
Type: White Paper
Rating: (0)

Overview: In this paper, targeting seamless streaming over WLAN, the authors extend the mobile IPv4 protocol and experiments on the MPEG-4 streaming with the implemented mobile IP system. A packet forwarding with buffering mechanism is implemented to reduce the packet loss during link-/IP-layer handoff. The causes of packet loss during handoff period are discussed and solutions for the packet loss are presented in the implementation perspective. Also, pre-buffering adjustment is performed based on the handoff transient time analysis.
