The Internet is making employees more productive than ever. Instant messaging enables simple, real-time communications. And the list of applications and their benefits goes on and on. This paper describes the risks that organizations face as they increase their dependence on the Internet, the challenge of finding available options to protect the network, and the steps to incorporate those tools and controls into day-to-day security management. To answer these needs, this paper establishes Internet Policy Management (IPM) as a crucial component of an overall security strategy that fills the gaps left open by static, one-size-fits-all security solutions.
