Overview: This research paper from Universidade Federal de Campina Grande presents the WS-GIS architecture which aims to implement a SOA-based SDI which promotes a set of spatial services and a federation of catalogs to enable distributed queries. The main purpose of such architecture is to enable integration of heterogeneous spatial data sets, by promoting interoperability, flexibility, service chaining and scalability. A prototype to work in a Regional SDI, in a real scenario of managing water resources in the Brazilian State of Paraiba is also built.
