Overview: Regulation is one of the central tools used by governments to deliver the social, environmental and economic goals of the community. Business groups are concerned that efforts are made to minimize unnecessarily costly, excessive or complex regulation. In response to these concerns, the NSW Government has asked the Tribunal to undertake a public inquiry to identify areas of NSW Government regulation which are imposing a significant, unnecessary burden on business and the community. The Tribunal has also been asked to develop recommendations for NSW Government action to improve the efficiency of regulation.
