Overview: This research paper provides an overview of the social security complex in rural areas and assesses the developing social security system. It outlines the socio-economic setting of the developing system under the heading of Three transitions. It presents an overview of the schemes that make up the current social security complex. As these schemes do not constitute an integrated system, the term Complex instead of System is used to refer to them in the aggregate.
