Overview: The mission of the E-Authentication Initiative is to use a standards-based plan to provide online identity verification services to the U.S. government across 26 federal agencies. The E-Authentication Initiative will provide benefits more significant than simple log-on convenience. Once the new standards-based e-authentication system is in place, government officials will be able to access a secure Web site that provides disaster information from government and non-government organizations.
