Why Mobility Could Save Enterprise UC
We believe use of collaborative workspaces by geographically dispersed project teams will be the new “killer app” for unified communications. Already, Apple and makers of Android devices—and their engaged developer ecosystems—are melding communications systems for consumers to a degree that enterprises could only dream of just a few years ago.
In the meantime, we’re starting to see a glimmer of hope in the UC market via more engaging user interfaces, particularly for mobile UC, as vendors bank on the mobile “fun factor” translating to the enterprise UC market. The stakes are high, as growing adoption of consumer-oriented mobile, social and cloud services spurs development of enterprise-oriented versions that could leave current UC vendors out in the cold, or at best scratching for the last remaining scraps of the enterprise voice market—desk-bound voice-centric users and contact center agents.
Don’t go down with that ship. We discuss how to unify UC and mobility initiatives to make your whole collaboration system stronger than the sum of its parts. The biggest roadblocks: Apple and Google. (S5620912)
