Making It Easier To Find Haystack Needles

Online recruiting software vendor Recruitsoft Inc. has a lot to celebrate this holiday season. During December, the company signed up Dow Chemical, Hewlett-Packard, Advanced Technology Services, and the Bank of Montreal Group as new customers for its online recruitment application. And Sutter Health extended its deployment of the tool from two to more than 20 locations.

The companies joined Metropolitan Life Insurance, Hasbro, Deloitte & Touche, Bombardier Aerospace and Transportation, and Cabletron Systems in deploying Recruiter WebTop.

A hosted service, Recruiter WebTop creates a recruiting site within a company's own site and intranet, featuring applicant tracking and skill-based screening. The software, last updated in August, can be customized to ask company- and job-specific questions of job seekers to find the most qualified applicants.

Patricia Anderson, global recruiting manager for Advanced Technology Services Inc. in Peoria, Ill., says Recruiter WebTop will drastically reduce the number of hours her staff puts in searching for top talent. Advanced Technology sells technical- and manufacturing-equipment support and maintenance to large companies. "We receive over 1,000 resumes per week, and normally it takes three nights of reviewing resumes to find three that match our qualifications," she says.

"The war for talent has created a favorable environment in the human-capital-management space," Merrill Lynch analyst Chandy Smith says. Recruitsoft has an edge, she says, thanks to its "solid integration between front-end and back-end systems, relative effectiveness to reach applicants via the Web, and skills-set screening as opposed to resum? screening."
