100GB Mini Drives Debut

G-Technology unveils a new line of miniature hard drives that hold up to 100GB of data in a box that takes the scale at around 9 ounces.

G-Technology Tuesday unveiled a new line of miniature hard drives that hold up to 100GB of data in a box that takes the scale at around 9 ounces.

Dubbed the G-Drive mini, the storage device comes in 60, 80, and 100GB capacities; is available in versions that connect to FireWire 800 and 400, as well as USB 2.0 ports; and works with machines running Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows XP.

The Santa Monica, Calif.-based G-Technology is pitching its new mini drives to consumers and business workers who need to tote around large amounts of data such as digital video and digital photo files.

The drives will be available in February at prices starting at $179.
