re: ICD-10 Madness: Most Providers Aren't Ready
Great article Nicole!
One of the things that I think many people are forgetting about in the Provider world is the problem of ICD-10 updates even after the 2013 deadline and how they will handle them across an enterprise. It is going to be a huge problem for many hospitals as most are still under one of two false impressions. One, that this is really more of a vendor problem than it is their problem and secondly, that they will just plug in the GEMG«÷s maps provided by CMS and everything will work out happily ever after.
I can tell you first hand as I am talking to these HIM directors daily across the US and they I would say very few have any idea what this conversion really consists of from the training, analytics, updating and crosswalking data back to I-9, ect.
