Analyzing the PC Vendors 2003

Which PC vendor lives up to its reputation or exceeds customer expectations? We asked customers of the top vendors of desktop and notebook PCs to rate their key suppliers across 9 critical purchase, ownership, and after-sale support metrics.

InformationWeek Research's Analyzing the PC Vendors report documents the experience of 875 business-technology professionals responsible for the purchase, evaluation, or approval of their company's PC desktops and notebooks. Vendor profiles include customer evaluations of these PC vendors: Dell, Gateway, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and Toshiba. Evaluations of white box purchases are also covered in this 19-page report.

The study evaluates vendor satisfaction across nine important product and service criteria, including:

  • Price and performance
  • Desired feature set
  • Product innovation
  • Product reliability and quality
  • Ergonomics
  • Customer service
  • Vendor reputation
  • Website ordering and support
  • Collaboration

The report also documents average purchasing price, investment drivers, and anticipated lifecycles of newly-purchased desktops and notebooks.

Use this study to identify a short-list of PC vendors based upon customer evaluations and also to check your company's PC strategies and experiences against its peers.
